Whose Email Was It Anyway...

Anyone faced with the challenge of answering email sent to a web site quickly learns it becomes a daunting task. Some days we must respond to 150 different emailing's for support, general questions and just B.S.

Embedded in one days email was this:

"Concerning: CED Chron.
Message: I just wanted to say since no one took the time to answer my e-mails I purchased an Oehler 35p and have really enjoyed it,Lots of shooters at my local range ask about and ask to use it. I told them about my experiences with your staff and how Oehler will be bringing out their newer model this summer, for them to wait and buy a product where somebody will take the time and deal with you rather than being ignored. Your loss!!!!
Operating System: Software Version:
Unusual Configurations:"

Holy crap, did I not respond to someone's email? That can happen if things get hectic but most people would email again if they don't hear back. The email came in from our server form which helps because everything is saved going back several years. I checked and nothing from his email address....strange. Perhaps he emailed directly and did not use the server form. Nope, nothing in Webmail going back a year and a half....

Then I noticed he refers to experiences with "Staff" and says he emailed several times. Since no RSI "Staff" answers email, that suggested he did not know where he sent the email. Needless to say I did not appreciate his attitude after just having spent half a day answering questions for shooters entirely unrelated to generating more income. The email I sent did not state what I was really thinking.

"Andy;

Every piece of email that has hit our servers for the past 8 years is on file and
this is the first email ever received from you.  I just checked and nothing from
you was ever received by our server.  I would love to see proof you sent us email.

I answer every piece of email we receive and would be glad to respond to this one
as well.

Have a nice life and please continue to support Oehler.  They have always made a
good product and will surely appreciate your attitude.

NOT CED Hong Kong where you probably emailed."

Immediately this came back

"I will enjoy my Oehler maybe you can learn to run a business!"

What a jerk! He is not anyone I would want as a customer, so I shot back something that should surprise him.

"Look Andy;

What do you not understand about can't respond to email that is never
received!  Everything typed into the form on our web site is stored and
goes back years.

There was nothing from you.  You are barking up the wrong tree.
We don't manufacture the product and are simply one of many dealers
around the globe.

I think you should learn how to be civil and perhaps someone would bother
responding to more of your email.

Jim Ristow"

Could I have somehow lost an email from him? Sure. But if it was sent it is far more likely it was caught in a spam filter somewhere or just never when through. Any email through our server generates a confirmation he could have forwarded as proof he sent something.

Life is too short to deal with jerks. He could have gotten a quick reply to any question with a little civility.

With his attitude would any CED dealer want him as a customer? Probably not. Good luck Oehler. To bad he bought a decent used chronograph and I am glad he thinks it is comparable : - )
